Meditation Mechanics II – Feb 2017

Meditation Mechanics II
Wednesday evenings, February 15 – March 8, 7-9 PM in Santa Monica
Taught by Jennifer Carson

Meditation Mechanics I introduced practical techniques for strengthening concentration and provided a neuroscience-based framework for understanding how the mind works, why it wanders, and how to corral it. This course broadens our meditation toolkit by introducing more objects, or sites, for meditation, based in both the body and mind. We’ll also cover the classical hindrances to meditation in depth and practice with their remedies. The class incorporates the Buddha’s teachings explicitly into the understanding of how and why we meditate. Each class includes instruction (with handouts), meditation, and discussion. To allow for personal attention, class size is limited to six people.
The fee is $160. You must commit to the whole course and to sitting daily for its three weeks. Payment of the fee reserves your space. Please email me with questions or to make a reservation.
